Ft. Benning - A south Georgia national guard unit that was expected to be home by now is back at work in Iraq.
The 1148th Transportation Group's camp is set up in Kuwait where they were preparing to return to the U.S.
Recently, the Pentagon extended their stay and the Thomasville based unit now is sending convoys back into Iraq. The soldiers haul military equipment to troops.
The troops were told their extension will be no less than 90 days and no more than 139 days.
There are 112 soldiers with the unit who are still overseas.
