Albany--After nabbing Albany's Daryl Smith with the seventh pick in the second round of the NFL draft Saturday, the Jacksonville Jaguars came back to South Georgia for their first pick of the fourth round Sunday.
Delta State defensive tackle Anthony Maddox became the 118th player to be drafted this weekend when the Jags drafted him Sunday afternoon.
Maddox, a former standout at Monroe High, was a two time All-American for the Statesmen and the Gulf South Conference's Defensive Player of the Year in 2003.
The 6'1" 308 pound defensive tackle attended Jones County Community College with high school teammate and current New England Patriots wide receiver Deion Branch before moving on to Delta State.
Anthony Maddox started twenty two games for the Statesmen, notching 10.5 sacks and 150 tackles in his two year career. Maddox was already in Jacksonville Sunday when the Jaguars made their selection.
