Dougherty County--Dillard's James Mason saved his best for last during the final round of the Albany Senior Invitational Saturday at Stonebridge Country Club.
Mason birdied the final three holes to pull away from Cadillac Classic Series tour rookie Jeb Stuart and claim the victory at 17 under par after a 6 under 66.
Mason and Stuart began the day tied at 11 under par and remained tied after 15 holes today, until Mason caught fire. After sticking his tee shot two feet from the pin on the par 3 16th, Mason began his barrage of birdies.
Mason's 54 hole total of 199 is a new tournament record. The previous mark of 202 was held by current Champions Tour member Allen Doyle. Mason picks up a check worth $12,500.
