Albany-- The motorcyclist who's wreck sparked an internal Albany Police investigation, has been transfered to a trauma unit.

Twenty-seven-year-old James Burgess was badly injured when he wrecked his motorcycle on Dawson Road April fifth. Since that wreck, an Albany police officer has been suspended because Burgess' wallet disappeared.

Burgess was unconscious when police arrived at the wreck scene and he remains unconscious. Early Friday morning, he was airlifted to Grady Hospital in Atlanta.

Burgess' family reported his wallet missing after the crash. But WALB News 10 has learned that police had Burgess' driver's license when writing up the wreck report.

Officer James Thomas is suspended with pay while this investigation continues.
