Mason gets off to fast start at Albany Senior

Albany-  Dillard's James Mason came out swinging in the first round of the Albany Senior Invitational.

 Mason went eagle/birdie on his first two holes and rolled on to an eight-under 64 to take one shot lead after the first round.

Charley Callaway is one shot back after he opened with a 65 and Beau Baugh is in third place after a five-under 67.

Four time PGA winner Tim Simpson is one of five players tied for fourth at four-under par.

Also at four-under is Javier Sanchez who led after the first round of last month's Hooters Tour Michelob Ultra Classic at Stonebridge.

Rex Caldwell is one of eight players who are five shots off the lead at three-under par.

Defending champion John Ross shot a one-under 71 as Ross was one of the first groups on the course.

Albany's Bobby Stroble had the best round of locals in the field with an even par 72 and Steve Cox struggled with a 78.

Amateur Bill Clanton is at four-over par and Dan Rhoads is at eight-over par.
