Thomasville - Students at Balfour School in Thomasville planted, watered, and even sang to trees on campus in celebration of Earth Day.

Teachers hope students will learn the importance of caring about the environment through planting trees and protecting the environment.

Teacher Tracey Murphy says, "Today we're celebrating Earth day and we're trying to teach our children how important it is to take care of our trees, because they give us air to breath and they give us shade."

Several Thomasville businesses donated trees to the project. Wal-mart granted the school $500 to help purchase more.
