Valdosta - A South Georgia teen was killed in a car wreck Thursday morning.
Seventeen-year-old Mya Smart lost control of her Chevrolet Cavalier on Highway 84 West around 7:30. She crossed the median and hit an S.U.V. head on. Troopers say Smart was not wearing her seat belt.
"It appears that maybe she was not paying attention, maybe she was on her cell phone or distracted in the car and that may have caused her to overcorrect her vehicle," said Trooper Josh Brogdon.
Smart was a senior and varsity cheerleader at Valdosta High School. The driver of the S.U.V., 26-year-old Dusty Smith, was not seriously injured.
