Gambling machines confiscated

April 20, 2004

Early County-- Ten gambling machines and three-thousand dollars were confiscated from four stores.

Investigators say employees were trading winning tickets for cash and merchandise. "Most of the stores were giving cash back, five dollars per ticket. Some stores gave lottery tickets and some stores gave beer," said Early Co. Investigator Randall Meeks.

Last summer, legislators made it illegal to possess the machines in Georgia.

B-J's Express, Brady's Food Basket, Sue's Store and Lott's Riverside Travel Center are accused of using the gambling machines illegally.
