A Lowndes County man is behind bars after deputies uncovered nearly half a million dollars of marijuana.
Sylvester- Assistant Sylvester Police Chief Charles Thurmond and two other officers were suspended in February following the death of a man they arrested.
37 year old Herman Jackson died after his larynx was crushed. A grand jury refused to indict the officers and Monday night, the Sylvester City Council is expected to decide whether to reinstate Thurmond. The other two officers were reinstated last month.
A group that wants Thurmond fired is holding a rally at the Worth County Courthouse before the meeting.
