Dawson-- South Georgia man and his housekeeper escape a raging fire that destroyed his home. The fire broke out around noon at Sunday  a house on 7th street in Dawson.

It was typical Sunday for Steve Reid. He was sitting in his living while his housekeeper cleaned up. But, he noticed smoke filling the room and knew they had to get out of the house.

"We smelled smoke the house was full of smoke we run out the back door and I manage to call 911 before we got of the house," says Reid.

Firefighters battled the fire for more than two hours. The fire might have started in the attic but officials are still investigating. The home was a loss but no one was hurt.
