Albany-- Over the past two seasons Westover teammates Allen Jenkins and Montavious Waters have become one of if not THE most feared tandem in the state in high school basketball. Today, the duo reaping the benefits of their success and hard work by signing college scholarships.
Allen Jenkins signed his National Letter of Intent to attend Okaloosa-Walton Community College in Niceville Florida. Jenkins averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds a game this past season for the Patriots, while helping lead the team to the triple-A state semifinals.
Montavious Waters is also headed to the Sunshine State. Waters signed a scholarship to the University of South Florida in Tampa. The talented guard, who averaged 18 points and 7 boards a game his senior season, says the fact that the Bulls will be playing in the Big East starting his sophomore year was a big reason for his decision.
"I mean there's only one conference in the nation that's bigger than the Big East and that's the ACC. And I turned down an ACC offer (Florida State) to go play in the Big East for three years," Waters said.
"It really just stood out. I see similarities between the coaches and the system that they run so I'm going to be real comfortable when I go there," Jenkins said.
Allen Jenkins and Montavious Waters went a combined 54 and 5 the last two seasons at Westover.
