Valdosta - A South Georgia senator who planned on retiring announces he will run again.

Senator Tim Golden of Valdosta says he has unfinished business in Atlanta. After countless people in his district encouraged him to run for re-election, he's decided to seek another term in the senate.

Golden says considering the new district maps, South Georgia needs to be represented by an experienced senator. "Those districts cut into our clout in South Georgia, it eliminated one or two Senate positions and several House seats and I don't need to tell you how important seniority and experience is in the legislature," said Golden. "I have had many people, who since the maps, have really put the pressure on for me to change my mind."

Golden planned on retiring to spend more time with his family, but says the house and Senate have adopted much more family-friendly schedules.

He's served in the senate for six years and served in the House of Representatives for eight years.
