Albany -- A South Georgia businessman hopes to make a new home for himself in Washington.

Wednesday former Southwest Georgia Chamber of Commerce CEO Dave Eversman announced he'll challenge incumbent Sandford Bishop for the 2nd Congressional district seat. Eversman says not being a career politician will work to his advantage in Washington.

"The reason I have accepted is I want to finish what I started, because a Chamber man can knock on the door, but a Congressman can knock the door down," says Everyman.

Eversman says he would work to breath new economic life into the 2nd district, which includes some of Georgia's and the nation's poorest counties.
