Blueberry plant opens in Homerville

April 8, 2004

Clinch County - A new company is opening in South Georgia, bringing dozens of jobs.

Sunny Ridge Berry Centers out of Florida is extending its business into Clinch County. They've opened a new blueberry packing and shipping plant that will employ about 50 people.

Company owners say they want to make Clinch County the blueberry capital of the world. "This is where the growers and the right soils and climate is for this window of harvest."

The company will also pack and ship some blackberries and raspberries. It's located on Highway 84, just west of Homerville.
