Newton- Newton has a new police chief.

The city council voted at a special meeting Wednesday night to hire Walt Causey who recently worked with the Baker County Sheriff's Department.

Former police chief Kenneth Corn quit last month because the job had become too physically challenging. There was a little controversy, some voters told city leaders they wanted interim chief Lamon Logue to get the full-time job.
