Albany- Southern Intercollegiate Athletic conference champion Albany State held their final practice of the spring this afternoon.
While most schools conclude spring with an intrasquad scrimmage, the Golden Rams final workout was just a normal practice.
Head coach Mike White has been pleased with the effort of his younger players through the spring session but says there is still plenty of work to be done before the season opener on August 28th.
Coach White says much of that work belongs on defense where the Golden Rams are working to get young defensive linemen and linebackers ready for battle in the fall.
The good news for coach White is the offense has looked they are ready for that first game right now.
White said "I think offense is probably the story of spring. They have looked very well with the receivers and Uyl (QB-Joyner) and again I think the whole offense is good and I think the defense has got to a little catch up with those guys."
The Albany State football team will return to the practice field on August 3rd with their first home game is August 28th against Miles College at the new Albany Municipal Coliseum.
