(Thomasville) For the second time this season, a Thomas University softball player has received NAIA national honors.
Tracy Avery, a senior pitcher from Tallahassee, Florida, was named the NAIA National Pitcher of the Week for the week ending March 29.
Avery threw a no-hitter in a 5-0 win over Belhaven College and she also pitched five shutout innings in a 9-0 win over then 25th ranked Faulkner University.
Avery pitched a one-hit shutout in a 12-0 win against Lindenwood University (Mo.), striking out eight batters in five innings.
Avery did not allow any walks in her three outings.
The second ranked Night Hawks improved their record to 31-2 on the season behind Avery' s strong arm.
Avery joins Yuruby Alicart, who also received NAIA National Player of the Week honors just two weeks ago for the Lady Night Hawks.
