Albany -- Some South Georgia school children attended a concert in their own back yard Thursday. The staff at Lamar Reese Elementary in Albany converted a portion of the school yard into a concert hall for the school's annual Music on the Lawn celebration.

Students and parents were invited to lie on the grass and enjoy music performed by the Albany Marine Corps Band and the Monroe High School marching band.

"This is a way to show students how important it is appreciate music because its apart of their everyday life," says George Darrisaw music director at Lamar Reese.

This is the third time the school has held the event that coincides with National Music Appreciation Month each March.
