Principal ordered to pay back salary

March 25, 2004

Ben Hill --The Ben Hill County School Board rules that a principal, who was paid a bonus after receiving a bogus degree, will have to pay back the money.

Fitzgerald High School Principal David Mims will have to repay about 4,800 dollars to the school system. In addition, the board of education recommends that the Georgia Professional Standards Commission do a full investigation of whether ethics violations were committed by Mims. If the commission finds him guilty, Mims could lose his certification to work in Georgia schools.
