(Albany-AP) -- An Albany man turned himself in to Alabama authorities Monday night after being accused of abducting a 22-year-old woman and taking her to Panama City, Florida.
Authorities say John Lee Bailey was charged with kidnapping and aggravated assault, and could face additional local and federal charges. The 59-year-old Bailey turned himself in at 6:30 p.m. in Escambia County, Alabama.
Police would not disclose the name of the woman, who reportedly was taken from her house at approximately 9:30 Sunday night. She told police she escaped from her captor about 5:30 Monday morning.
Albany police Major Karen Majors says police received a call shortly after 1:00 AM from her mother saying that the woman had been forcibly abducted. The woman was not believed to have been seriously injured when she was found.
