Albany- Gillionville Baptist Church held a special Sunday service. The members brought shovels to help break ground on their new 36,000 square foot facility.
The church is using Building God's Way, a contracting program that combines construction with Christianity.
"Many people have built churches, but the churches that they have built very seldom reached out to those who have worked on the plan. Dan set out from the beginning to impact their lives with the gospel and encourage them to participate. We will be using this building before we even dig the first shovel full of dirt," Roy Cook.
The new sanctuary will seat more than 1,000 people and when complete the building will feature classrooms, a nursery and assembly room.
