March 18, 2004

Americus- Dooly County head football coach Bill Clark is now the head coach at Americus High.

The Sumter County Board of Education approved the Clark's recommendation by a vote of 8-1 on Thursday night.

Clark is leaving Dooly County after nine seasons, the last five of which he was the Bobcats head coach.

Bill Clark posted a 45-20 record and took Dooly County to the Class A  state playoffs in 1999, 2002 and 2003 and the AA playoffs in 2000 and 2001.

The Bobcats were state runnerup in Class A in 2002.

Clark will be faced with the challenge of merging the players from Americus and Sumter County high schools and the new consolidated high school will also move from AA to AAAA this fall.
