March 17, 2004Albany-- A new line of tires will not be made in Albany--but, that is a good thing for the Cooper Tire Plant here.
That's because the plant is performing at capacity.
The company said in January they are investing almost 20 million dollars expanding the Albany plant.
A new tread line will be installed, as well as a sixteen press expansion and four new VMI tire building machines.
56 new employees will also be hired.
Cooper Tire announced Tuesday that a new high performance tire, used on Rolls-Royce automobiles, will be manufactured in three U.S. plants in Ohio, Texas and Mississippi.
