Breakdown on proposed election map

March 16, 2004

Atlanta - The proposed political maps put two incumbents in the same districts.

  • In House District 133, Democrat Bob Hanner of Parrott will be pitted against Lee County Republican Ed Rynders.
  • District 134, Democrat Gerald Green of Cuthbert will be paired against Democrat Hugh Broome of Donalsonville.
  • District 116 Democrat Jimmy Skipper of Americus will be paired against Democrat Debbie Buckner in Junction City.
  • District 143 Democrat Penny Houston of Nashville will be paired against Democrat Jay Shaw of Lakeland.

The General Assembly missed the federal court's deadline, a retired judge drew the new lines.
