Falcons extinguish Blazers season

March 13, 2004

Valdosta--The Valdosta State Blazers could not overcome a poor night of shooting to knock off the Montevallo Falcons in the first round of the Division II NCAA Tournament Saturday night.

The Falcons topped the Blazers 56-49, beating VSU for the second time in a week as the two teams met for the fourth time this season.

Despite shooting a miserable thirty percent from the field, the Blazers managed to cut the Falcons lead to one on a Jon Rodgers follow dunk.  But Montevallo seemed to have an answer for everything the Blazers did and VSU had trouble stopping Caleb Kennedy, Tamarcus Mitchell and Marcus Kennedy who combined for 44 of the Falcons 56 points.

Valdosta State was led by Mike Crain who poured in a game high 22 points.  The Blazers finish the 2003-2004 season at 25-4.
