Albany-- After months of searching for the right man and even re-advertising the job at one point the Monroe High Tornadoes finally have a new head football coach.
Charles Truitt was unanimously approved as the Tornadoes new coach at the Dougherty County Board of Education meeting tonight.
Truitt comes to Monroe after spending two years as the head coach of the Sumter County Rams. He was selected over eight other finalists after an extensive search.
Charles Truitt led the Rams to a 9 and 11 record in two seasons, but was out of a job after this past season due to the consolidation of Americus and Sumter County High Schools.
Truitt was also the defensive coordinator at Americus High for six seasons before moving to Sumter County prior to the 2001 season. He replaces Vernorris Bradley who resigned after five seasons.
