(Macon-AP) -- Randolph-Clay won its first state championship since 1986, getting a combined 49 points from Lancie Cannon and Chris Jackson, beating Carver-Atlanta 80-67 and finishing a perfect season in the Class double-A state championship today in Macon.
Cannon scored 30 and Jackson 19, and the biggest damage was done in the first half, when the Red Devils blew out to a big lead and remained in control the rest of the way. They led by as many as 22 points on several occasions, and never saw their lead trimmed to single digits.
Shamaine Dukes and Rashaad Lewis scored ten each for the Red Devils, who won two championships in the 1980s and last appeared in a state final in 1999. The championship-game win was their only playoff game closer than 15 points.
Carver got 30 points from Javaris Bradford. Taj McCullough, who sparked the Panthers' semifinal win with a big third quarter, scored 15 and Gianni Crouch added 14.
