Westover girls fall to defending state champs

 (Macon-AP) -- Georgia signee Tasha Humphrey scored 22 points and defending state champion Gainesville easily beat Westover 58-31 in the Class AAA girls state semifinal in Macon.

The Red Elephants go for their third title in four years tomorrow.

Westover fell behind early and never posed a seious threat, trailing by 20 points or more throughout the fourth quarter.

Gainesville, which lost in the semifinals two years ago and won a state title in 2001, led 23-13 at intermission and quickly pushed the lead past 20.

 Jada Frazier scored 13 points for a Westover squad that reached its first final four in 11 years and loses just two seniors from the 2004 team.
