Albany leaders quiet noise

Albany - It might soon get a little quieter in Albany. City leaders passed a noise ordinance Wednesday.

Now, you must keep the noise level down so that it can not be heard 100 feet away from a home, business, event, or car. City commissioners set the 'quite time' from 10:00PM to 9:00AM. Noise ordinance violators can be fined, even if they're not caught by police.

"There is some difficult with enforcement, but the other angle is if you are willing to testify in court that this noise could be heard over 100 feet away, we still can handle your case," said City Manager Janice Allen Jackson.

The noise ordinance excludes the central business district in downtown Albany, so the City and merchants can hold festivals and concerts downtown.
