Valdosta - Thirty-year-old Theodore Smith was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison for the September 2002 murder of 28-year-old Lulay Teckle.

Teckle was shot during a fight outside the Deli Bar on Northside Drive. Prosecutors say Teckle was an innocent bystander, that Smith was firing at another man.

"We thought we had very strong evidence, we had several eye witnesses, we had people putting the gun on his person, and people he worked with that he'd shown the gun to," said District Attorney David Miller.

Smith was also found guilty of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. He will be sentenced for those charges on March 29th.
