Athens--Moultrie native Lane Bassham captured first place on the Women's one meter springboard Wednesday during the first day of the SEC Swimming and Diving Championships held at the University of Georgia. Bassham, a senior at Alabama, scored 298.25 in the finals to edge South Carolina's Allison Brennan.
Other former Moss Farms divers to place in the one meter springboard were University of Tennessee junior Lauryn McCalley (3rd) and Lane's sister Brooke (18th), a junior at the University of Georgia.
The SEC Swimming and Diving Championships will continue Thursday morning weather permitting.
