Barber leaves Clinch County

February 17, 2004

Homerville- Another head coach leaving a winning program is Clinch County's Cecil Barber.

Barber, who has been coaching at Clinch County for 29 years, has been named head football coach at Jeff Davis High in Hazlehurst.

Cecil Barber has been the head football coach at Clinch County for the last ten seasons where he posted a 91-29 and one record and led the Panthers to the 2002 class A state title.

Barber stepped down as head baseball coach after the 2002 season after leading Clinch County to their sixth state title under his reign.

Barber says family is a big reason for the move since Hazlehurst is closer to Statesboro where his son Rhett is a pitcher for Georgia Southern.
