New mayor says adjustment going well

February 17, 2004

Albany- Dr. Willie Adams presided over his first regularly scheduled commission meeting since the special called meeting last Friday when he was sworn in.

During his administration, he plans to make sure the meetings follow the agenda and the commission makes some progress before it adjourns.

"I don't believe in long meetings. I believe in getting the work done, and, of course you have to give people time to voice their opinions on issues, so we certainly don't want to cut anybody short along those lines, but I don't like to have meeting just for meeting's sake," Adams says.

He also says he looks forward to an amicable relationship with his fellow commissioners and city staff. Tuesday's meeting was also the first regular meeting for new Ward six commissioner Tommie Postell.
