High School students study financial aid

February 17, 2004

Albany - College can put a strain on your wallet. On Tuesday, juniors from four public high schools in Albany learned what is available.

The financial aid workshop opened their eyes to the Pell grant, money that the student doesn't have to pay back. Student, Jaren Pouncil, says, "The main reason I'm here is to know what to do when I get into twelfth grade next year."

Here's some student aid advice for high school students:

  • Meet with career or guidance counselors to discuss plans.
  • Investigate the availability of all financial aid from federal, state, local and private sources.
  • You can also go to the library to find directories of scholarships for women, minorities and disabled students.
