Albany- Calls from people in the neighborhood led Investigators to an Albany man accused of a home invasion robbery. 34-year old Robert Thomas Newberry, Junior is charged with aggravated assault and robbery.

Last Wednesday night, investigators say Newberry and another man smashed their way into the home of an elderly East Albany man and robbed him.  71-year old Alfonza Laney was beaten with a stick during the home invasion. His wallet was stolen.

"Through information coming from citizens, the investigators were able to compile some information," said APD Lt. Kenn Singleton. "They made contact with the suspect, and brought him down to the station, where a lineup was done. The victim was able to pick him out positively."

Investigators continue the search for the second man home invader. Police don't think this robbery was connected to a second home invasion of an elderly person last week.
