Valdosta - A South Georgia city sets its goals for a new year.

The Valdosta mayor and city council members are back from a planning retreat at Jekyll Island. They set 16 goals. Among them, holding bi-annual meetings with Lowndes County commissioners, developing a compensation and retirement plan for city employees, and improving transportation.

"Its a new make up of the council and we got to know each others philosophies, what we want to work towards, and how we want to do it," said Mayor John Fretti. "It was a wonderful experience."

The council also hopes to create a plan with the Department of Transportation this year that will remove tractor trailer traffic from the downtown streets.
