Americus-- A well-known Americus man, who is the PA announcer for the Atlanta Braves, has been arrested.

54-year-old Bill Bowers is charged with possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

Drug agents got a tip to check out Bower's apartment. Sumter County Drug Task Force Sgt. Joe Monts says, "He invited us in to talk. He gave a consent to search the residence after he told us he did have a quantity of marijuana in the residence."

Bowers had less than an ounce of marijuana which is a misdemeanor.

Bowers also announced games for the Albany Alligators during the 2001 season.
