Albany-Albany State football coach Mike White is too consumed with recruiting to really study the schedule his Golden Rams will play this year.
However, those players who do sign with Albany State next week will know who they will play in their first college game.
The defending SIAC and Pioneer Bowl champions will kick off the 2004 season on August 28th against Miles College.
It will be the first game for Albany State in the Albany Municipal Coliseum It is also the first time since 1996 that Albany State will open the season with a team other than Valdosta State.
The Blazers though will be the second opponent to visit Albany State's new home as everyone in the blue and gold can't wait to see the Golden Rams play a football game on their own campus.
White said "I don't think any of us realize how big of an impact that will have on us. How it is to play in your own home where you see the blue and gold all around and again just having that opportunity. I think we will all be excited about it."
After their two home games to start the season, Albany State travels to Kentucky State to face a Thorobred team that beat them in Albany last year.
The Golden Rams will also have road games at Tuskegee, Benedict College and Morehouse and their annual classic games with Savannah State in Macon and Fort Valley State in Columbus.
The Fountain City Classic against Fort Valley is in the first week of November.
The regular season in division two will end a week earlier because the NCAA D-II playoffs will start a week since the field this year will be expanded from 16 to 24 teams.
