Valdosta- Redshirt freshman Mike Crain hit three, three-pointers, including the game winner in the final seconds to give 9th ranked Valdosta State 60-58 win over Montevallo Monday night.
This matchup of the first and second place teams in the Gulf South Conference's eastern division was as good as advertised with the two teams changing the lead 14 times and there were eight ties.
Senior Ernest Scott led the Blazers with 17 points and Crain finished with 15 points.
Caleb Kennedy led Montevallo with 18 points.
Valdosta State (17-1, 6-0) has now won eight straight games.

Candice Ferrell scored 22 points and Danielle Hernandez hit 4-9 three point baskets to finish with 21 points to lead the Lady Blazers to a 60-51 win over the Montevallo women.
Valdosta State won despite the fact they committed 22 turnovers but they did hold Montevallo to 31% shooting from the field.
The Lady Blazers are now 15-3 and 4-2 in the Gulf South Conference's eastern division.
