Albany- Deerfield-Windsor kicker Kyle Belcher has committed to sign with Georgia Tech next week.
As WALB News 10 Sports first reported last Tuesday, Belcher's commitment was expected after Georgia Tech became the only division I-A school to offer him a scholarship.
Belcher made the commitment after making sure he could pursue his major of physical therapy.
The all-state kicker also wanted to meet some of his future college teammates.
The kicking game was one of the weaknesses for Georgia Tech last season and Yellow Jacket coaches have told Kyle he has the chance to play right away.
Kyle Belcher said "It definitely shows they want a kicker and lets me know that they want me as opposed to some of the other schools that were offered walk-ons. It definitely makes you feel better knowing they want you and need you."
Before Georgia Tech offered him a scholarship, Kyle Belcher was considering walking on at Georgia in hopes of earning a scholarship down the road.
Wofford and Charleston Southern were the only other schools to offer Belcher a scholarship.
