Dougherty County -- State investigators are looking into the burning of an old Dougherty County church. State Fire Marshal's Office investigators visited the former church site Monday morning.

The vacant building on Railroad Street near Acree burned to the ground Saturday night. No one was inside at the time of the blaze.  But witnesses say they saw two cars leaving the area just as the fire broke out.

The fire has not been ruled an arson, but signs point that way.

The land belongs to the Nichols family who say that church closed in the 1950-s.
