Kingston hears doctors concerns

January 26, 2004

Valdosta - First District Congressman Jack Kingston listened to the concerns of South Georgia health care providers Monday.

Doctors at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta say their malpractice insurance rates are so high, they're driving them out of offering certain services. Kingston encouraged them to rally together and take their concerns to legislators.

"I think every legislator and member of congress should have to spend one day in a hospital to see what's going on, because there are other issues we've dealt with wrong and we don't want to make that mistake again," said Kingston.

Georgia's malpractice insurance rates are the 11th highest in the nation.
