Albany Tech wants old fire station

January 26, 2004

Albany - Albany Tech is trying to improve it Paramedic, EMT, and Fire training programs. Soon the Albany fire station adjacent to the college will be empty because the City is building a new station on Gaines Street.

Monday, Albany Tech President Dr. Anthony Parker asked county commissioner to give the building to the college to use to train emergency personnel. "Since it is adjacent to the campus and a fire station, it would be an authentic training facility for these programs," said Dr. Parker.

Commissioners will vote next Monday whether to donate the fire station.
