Albany - A former Dougherty County commissioner is honored for more than 2 decades of public service. The County named a room of the Riverfront Resource Center for Commissioner George Brown.

Brown represented South Dougherty County on the commission for 22 years. He retired last year.

"I'm fond of the fact that we were able to put a library on the south side of the City, and put in a facility for both mental and physical health," said Brown. "These are just some of the things I'm really proud of, and I'm glad we got to do those things."

Brown owns a dry cleaning business and a package store.
