City gets million dollar grant

January 25, 2004

Albany- The city of Albany is using the money to help build a $2.5 million multi-modal transportation station downtown at the corner of Roosevelt and Washington streets.

The station will act as a central location for riders who use bus and rural transit systems.

"It going to be more convenient for them and they'll be more comfortable if they wait for a bus. If a cold rainy day comes about they won't be here waiting at the center out in the weather they'll be inside we hope that's much more convenient for them," says Mayor Tommy Coleman.

Coleman says he's not sure when the city will begin construction of the new transportation center.
