Valdosta-- The Columbus Wardogs are looking for a few good men. The Arena 2 team held an open tryout Saturday morning on the campus of Lowndes High in Valdosta.
Around ten hopeful players turned out for the workout, which tested their speed, agility and other football skills. Columbus head coach John Fourcade says he will hold five of these preseason workouts before starting up training camp in March.
The second year coach of the Wardogs knows south Georgia is rich in football talent, and hopes these tryouts will produce some diamonds in the rough.
"Now I'm looking for new talent. We're in the area where Tallahassee used to have a team and Jacksonville used to have a team. And you hear so much about the Valdosta area and we feel like we can find some players. We need somebody that can come in and help us, and we need to win," Fourcade said.
The Wardogs will hold another tryout on February the 14th in Savannah at Savannah State University. If you have any questions about the tryouts you can contact the Wardogs office at (706) 653-7789.
