Albany -- If you are interested in the history of Dougherty County, you can see who owned all the land in the county from before the Civil War into the 20th Century.
Land ownership maps from 1850 until 1910 are on display on the third floor of the Dougherty County Downtown library. Woody Brooks with the Genealogy Society said "You are going to find the original ownership of Albany from the 1850's on up, the names that were there then are there now."
You can research who owned the land where your home stands. The Genealogy society soon will have a CD and a web site with all the maps history on it.
