Valdosta - Rusty Griffin says he'll run for the District 8 senate seat being vacated by Senator Tim Golden.

Griffin is a life-long resident of Lowndes County and was C-E-O of the international farm chemical company, Griffin LLC, for more than 20 years. He recently sold the company to Dupont and says he wants to devote the rest of his career to serving the people of South Georgia.

"I feel like it's an opportunity for me to give back and I want to give South Georgia a voice in Atlanta," said Griffin.

Griffin is being opposed by Democrat Ron Borders, who currently serves in the House of Representatives.
