Join Relay for Life to help cure cancer

January 8, 2004

Albany - It's that time of year again. Time to sign up for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.

Mark your calendar, the Dougherty-Lee County Relay for Life kick-off meeting is next week. It's an informational meeting for those interested in starting a team.

Relay for Life is an overnight walk-a-thon to raise money for cancer research. Team Recruitment Volunteer, Tammy Hydrick, says, "There are so many people in our community that have been touched by cancer, and that's your reason to relay."

Relay for Life is April 31st at Darton College. The kick-off meeting is Tuesday, January 13th, at six at the Regions Bank Operations Center on West Broad Avenue in Albany.

For more information call the American Cancer Society at 229-446-1073.

Last year, Dougherty-Lee County relay teams raised more than $100,000.
