Tifton -- Two teens were riding on a go-cart when it was hit head on by a car on busy Tifton road. On Tuesday, Jerome Barthell and Javaris Green, both 14-years-old, were turning out of the parking lot of the Peterson Apartments onto Timmons Road when they were struck by a car. The teenagers were ejected from the go-cart. Wednesday, Javaris died. Jerome is in critical condition in a Macon Hospital suffering from broken bones and internal injuries. The deceased child's mother hopes what happened to her son won't happen to others. "I would like to say to parents who have kids with go cart or mopad, you should watch your kids,"says Cheryl Milton, mother of Javaris ."This is a hurting situation,"she says. The teens were not wearing helmets. Tifton police say they do not plan to charge the driver of the car that struck the teens.
